Building's Architectural History
Part of Emily's research on the Federal Building in
downtown Saint Paul focused on the architecture of the
building itself. The first property on the National Register
from Minnesota, it was designed by the office of the
Supervising Architect of the Treasury in Washington, D.C.
The Richardsonian Romanesque and Chateauesque
building went through a series of construction supervisors,
including architect Cass Gilbert. Finding these and other
facts took Emily to a number of resources, including:
